Paikpara Indraranga's new play " Alauddin o Padmabati" is based on Bimal Lama"s story which revolves around the district of Purulia. The new theatre production has Ujjwal Chattopadhyay as the playwright and Indrajit Chakraborty as the director.
The play is quite relevant since it successfully represents the societal fabric of current times. Alauddin and Padmabati fall in love with each other and their journey begins along the banks of the river Kangshabati. To hide his religious identity, Alauddin wears a helmet on his head. Padmabati , on the other hand doesn't like this hide and seek and throws her scarf into the river. Following her footsteps, Alauddin also throws his helmet away.
The story of the two lovebirds from different religious backgrounds, spreads throughout the city like wildfire. They decide to get married. But oppositions come and obstacles arise, naturally. The play's real climax comes at the end.
